FAQs

Questions Families Ask Before Working With Us

  • What is the free 15-minute consultation?

The 15-minute consultation is a simple conversation to learn about your financial needs, answer any initial questions, and determine if we’re a good fit to work together. No pressure, no obligation—just a conversation to see if we can help.

  • What does fee-based and independent actually mean for me?

It means we are not owned by a brokerage and do not earn commissions for steering you toward in-house products. Your guidance is built around your goals rather than a product shelf. You work with advisors whose recommendations are not shaped by a sales quota.

  • Can you help me get my whole financial life organized?

That is the heart of what we do. Our process brings investments, retirement, estate, and insurance into one coordinated plan so nothing important falls through the cracks. The goal is a financial house in order, where every piece supports the rest.

  • How much experience do your advisors have?

Our lead advisory experience spans more than 35 years, with the firm since 1997, and we hold Series 63 and Series 65 registrations. That depth matters most when the stakes are high, such as a divorce, a business sale, or a multi-state estate. We aim to bring seasoned judgment to decisions you may only make once.

  • Who is the financial advisor at Beaulieu in Somers?

Our founding principal is Jim Beaulieu, who brings more than 35 years of advisory experience and has led the firm since 1997. He works alongside a small advisory team, all based out of our Somers, Connecticut office. Because the roster is intentionally limited, you work directly with your advisor rather than a rotating service desk.

  • How long has Beaulieu & Associates been in business?

Our advisory roots go back more than three decades, and our lead advisor has been with the firm since 1997. That continuity means the person guiding your plan has worked through multiple market cycles, tax-law changes, and the life transitions our clients face. Longevity like this is one of the clearest trust signals an independent firm can offer.

  • How much do you charge for your services?

Our advisory fee is .4% to 1.5% of assets under management annually depending on your situation. We also have flat fee pricing available. The fee is based on the amount of assets we manage for you and covers our ongoing investment management and financial planning services. We’ll review our fees with you upfront so you know exactly what to expect.

  • Who is the custodian of the assets?

Your assets are held with Charles Schwab, an independent custodian. We manage your investments, while Schwab securely holds your assets.

  • Do I need to live in Somers, Connecticut to become a client?

While we are located in Somers, our clients reside across the country.
